Gypsygirl: I have my own bank story..=) May 21, 2014 OMG I did not expect this.
First let me clarify, I live just outside of Toronto Canada but I am a naturalized American who now holds dual citizenship. After a 17 yr marriage that I was not given much latitude in our families finances. I am a recent single mother of two and had to buy the house out from my ex on my own.
I had to go to my home branch renew my mortgage. I have been with this bank manager over 11 years now and this is my 11th year in this home.He is middle-eastern and a lovely gentleman. We have developed a friendly but professional relationship.
During the course of our reviewing my assets and investments I did mention that I had one investment I did not usually share and that it was not to be included in this transaction.
I commented I was going to need him to direct me to a wealth manager and then showed him my currency. His eyes bulged and he asked if it was Iraqi dinar and I said yes. He quickly asked me to put it back in my briefcase and to make sure I have it stored in a safe place not on my home premises, during the course of this he said I was a very wealthy woman more then once..
He said that he has a certificate in wealth management but I would need someone higher up. He said the bank does not recognize the currency at the moment but he will be sending my contact info along very shortly to the WM I would need to see.
We concluded my mortgage documents and shook hands. He told me I was a very smart investor.. =)
