[ariel144] Christine Legarde on the GLobal economy
[ariel144] Charlie Rose interviewing Christine LeGarde
[ariel144] Where are we now with the Global Economy?
[ariel144] Overview Is the tide turning? Global activity strengthened since mid-2013 but downside risks remain. In advanced economies, brakes to growth, from the pace of fiscal consolidation to high private debt, are slowly loosening. Stronger growth in advanced economies is helping emerging market and developing economies. However, risks of low inflation in the euro area, challenges with normalizing monetary policies in the U.S., and increased financial and capital flow volatility for emerging economies remain key concerns. Against this backdrop, cross-border spillovers may pose greater risks and new policy challenges are arising. The discussion will focus on how policymakers could collaborate globally to better manage the risks and durably boost jobs and growth.
[ariel144] CL saying that the USA and Europe "turning the corner" with economic growth, jobs etc
[ariel144] " need growth in infrastructure" (aka RV baby...)
[ariel144] When CL was talking about the USA holding it up...she was referring to Congress not voting on them lowering the USA voting power with the IMF...which is not happening as we know so IMO it is code for us holding up the RV ...the reset of the GCR which is holding up the rebuilding of infrastructures world wide/humanitarian projects which she is trying to facilitate. this is my opinion.
[OfCourse13] ariel144 Makes sense. She wants congress to pass the 2010 reforms. We don't.
[ariel144] The humanitarian projects are near and dear to her heart.
[OfCourse13] World bank guy Dr.Kim talked last night about projects to end extreme poverty, and he is working with IMF on them
[walter-bs] nasdaq suffers biggest fall since 2011 http://www.bloomberg.com/tv/
[sandytob] walter-bs maybe good sign. We were told years ago that the stock market would fall sharply right before the rv.
[rocknman] sandytob as well as gold and metals would go up
BSquared: A man goes to see the Rabbi. "Rabbi, something terrible is happening and I have to talk to you about it." The Rabbi asked, "What's wrong?" The man replied, "My wife is going to poison me." The Rabbi, very surprised by this, asks, "How can that be?" The man then pleads, "I'm telling you, I'm certain she's going to poison me. What should I do?" The Rabbi then offers, "Tell you what. Let me talk to her, I'll see what I can find out and I'll let you know." A week later the Rabbi calls the man and says, "I spoke to your wife on the phone for three hours. You want my advice? The man said, "Yes" and the Rabbi replied, "Take the poison
