Tuesday Morning News Summaries

American proposal to solve the oil crisis between Baghdad and Erbil

So after months and months of bickering the US shows up and basically tweaks one thing.....when the Kurd oil is sold, they get their 17%, THEN Baghdad gets the rest....

the US is still pushing to have SOMO supervise the details of the export of Kurd oil.....the region must still export 400,000 barrels of oil per day as called for in the 2014 budget.....

Barzani is remaining quiet until he hears the reaction from Baghdad, but I cannot imagine him to be very happy with this arrangement.....and there is no mention of who disperses the 5% of revenues to the Kuwaiti's....this does not sound like something the Kurds would agree to...IMO.

KRG: Iraq won’t follow UN suggestions to solve dispute

The assistant head of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan points out that the federal government will not resolve the dispute issues between Baghdad and Erbil....

the UN on June 5th, asked the Iraqi government to resolve internal issues, specifically relating to oil and budget, by adhering to the country's federal system.....it is not believed by the Kurds that the Iraqi government will follow any treaty agreements, they haven't followed them before and won't follow them now.

Kurdistan oil tanker has reached its destination and will pay 5% of the amount to Kuwait

The Kurds have announced that the wayward oil tanker that turned off its tracking system has reached "a destination" wherever that might be and the Kurds will be making their required 5% payment to the compensation fund for Kuwait, then paying Kurd state employees....

no mention was made of sending leftovers to Baghdad at this point.....the article states that the oil was sold at the "daily price" so I would take that to mean somewhere in the $100-$105 dollar range.....

now here is a new twist to things....they state the oil revenues would be delivered to a bank account in the US, then to Turkey, then finally to the Kurdistan region.....where the final destination ended up being is unknown at this point.

Khalidi: legislative term can not be completed until after the budget approval

Claims are being made that the legislative term of the current Parliament cannot end until the 2014 budget is approved.....apparently this is dictated in Article 57 of the Iraqi Constitution.

Unity of Anbar conference moved to 15 instead of 20 June

Talk about breaking patterns....when have we ever seen the Iraqi's moving a date "up"....usually they move them back.....but here they are advancing the date of the Unity of Anbar Conference from the 20th of June to the 15th.....what would be the significance of that action.....this could be a very interesting conference.

Expectations of delaying the announcement of election results, while "sharing adult cake" and breach of the first session to avoid a quorum to make it open

I smell something in the wood pile here and it makes my nose wrinkle.....asking for delays in the announcing the election results....allowing the old Parliament to meet with the new Parliament....

not buying that.....giving the Federal Court more time to get through all the appeals that were filed.....that I can understand. Let the new Parliament meet and stand on their own feet....

the old Parliament....probably needs to be looking for a safe haven after their immunity runs out....there might be a record number of arrest warrants issued at that time.....

the Liberal bloc is talking gibberish it would seem, they are claiming that to open Parliament up within the 15 days required of the President to do so is not legal....

they want the Parliament to meet and decide who will be Speaker of Parliament and who will be President of Iraq before they hear about the ratification of the election.....they are putting the cart far ahead of the horses it seems. Well it is Iraq and to me the continued squabbles is just the status quo....unfortunately.

Source: 500 billion Iraqi dinars in Nineveh fear they occur, however, the organization Daash

Members of DAASH have stormed the government buildings in Mosul and have taken control there.....there is a large sum of IQD in the Ninevah province and it is apparently at risk also.

Minister of Finance: there was no need to borrow 9 trillion dollars in the absence of approving the budget

A member of the Ministry of Finance is stating that there was no need to borrow $9 trillion dollars to pay off any obligations of the petrodollar budget......their viewpoint is there is no deficient if there is no budget at this point....so any such debt would impact negatively on the overall performance of the state.

Insurgents seize Iraqi city of Mosul as troops flee

Terrorists from the group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have seized control of Mosul overnight, after military and local police fled the area in advance of the action by the terrorist group. Maliki has declared a "general mobilization" and is calling on Parliament to declare a state of emergency….

meanwhile it is believed the terrorists now control the entire city, including the airport and prisons.....releasing hundreds of prisoners.

With the relative ease the ISIS group used to take the city the US-trained military's expertise is coming under fire from a political standpoint.....apparently there was a large amount of weapons that were left behind and now have fallen into the hands of the terrorists.....

Parliament won't meet until Thursday to "discuss" Maliki's request for a state of emergency.....that is two days away.....let's sit on our thumbs and let these psycho's get themselves dug in better for the fight that they know is coming....sure thing.....

I predict that Najafi won't give Maliki the State of Emergency to run the country in this time of crisis.....it will become a political football....a leverage to get Maliki to walk away....I hope that I'm wrong....

I also do not believe Maliki will stand still for such action.

Najafi announces the fall of Mosul, a second airport and calls for the use of peshmerga: Daash will reach all of Iraq

Speaker Najafi is declaring the fall of Mosul and is calling for the Peshmerga to respond to the province and for international help as well....meanwhile Najafi's brother remains inside the province and is trying to rally the military and police to form a line of resistance against the terrorists.

The timing of the calls suspicious ... Kurdistan "as an independent state," announces the new currency cash!!

Unnamed sources are claiming that the Kurds are looking at issuing its own currency in order to achieve the goal of separation....however this is believed to be unconstitutional...but of course the Kurds reject the issue of constitutionality....just more hype over the issue of the budgeted 17% that is supposed to go to the Kurds.

Proposed distribution .. cash instead of ration in the month of Ramadan

It is being suggested to the Ministry of Commerce that cash be given to Iraqi citizens instead of the normal ration in the month of Ramadan.....

the Ministry of Commerce is also being asked to set up committees to watch for price increases in markets during the Holy month....but prices are going up anyway.....probably not so much for Ramadan as is the case due to lack of a state budget at this point.

Maritime expert: the second oil tanker loaded with oil from Kurdistan traverse Cyprus

I will simple say "another" tanker has now left Ceyhan, Turkey laden with Kurdistan oil...it's name is United Ampelment....as with the previous shipment.....it does not appear that the destination of this tanker is known at this time.

Gunmen attack banks Mosul and seize the funds deposited by the

Gunmen were seen in many areas of Mosul entering banks and seizing funds that were in the banks....these are believed to be members of DAASH, operating with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)....there is fear that as much as 500 billion IQD could fall into the hands of the terrorists from what currency is known to be in the province.

Maliki calls for the United Nations and the Arab League and the European Union to support Iraq

Maliki is putting out calls to the UN, the Arab League and the European Union to help fight the current outbreak of terrorism in Iraq.

Washington calls on Kurdistan and Iraq's Baghdad to negotiate and warns those involved...

Now the US is telling the Kurds and Baghdad to negotiate over the issues of oil and the budget.....

at the same time sending a warning to the Kurds regarding their sale of oil...."facing serious legal risk"....

it is obvious who the current administration is supporting in this fight.....the US envoy will also be meeting with Baghdad government officials concerning the breaking story from Mosul concerning the terrorist take over of the city.

Baghdad Owes Kurdistan $6b, International Conference Told

The Kurds are claiming that the Baghdad government owes the Kurds $6 billion dollars for the first six months of 2014, for its share of the budget....something I seriously doubt they will ever see a penny of from Baghdad.....the continued strife over the oil issues is not likely to be worked out to everyone's satisfaction any time soon....and with that said, the budget remains at an equal stalemate.....

the US is putting uneven pressure on the Kurds to deal with Baghdad....painting the Kurds as the bad boys at this point in time.....no credit is being given to the Kurds for what they have been able to do with their oil sector, how much it is improved over many other areas of Iraq.....

meanwhile because of terrorist fears many Iraqi's are fleeing to areas of the Kurdistan for safety putting more undue burdens upon the Kurd government.....who does not get support for this humanitarian effort in their region.

U.S. Treasury Secretary visits the Middle East and Germany

Well the Middle East....Saudi Arabia is considered the ME.....where there will be discussions on regional economies and how the US can continue to support efforts to fight against terrorism and the financing of terrorist organizations....then off to Germany.

Election commission delays the announcement of results of appeals to grant blocs enough time to negotiate

The Liberal bloc is wanting to see an extension added to the 10 days that the Electoral Commission has to declare the election results ratified....and that the Presidency of the Republic has 15 days to call the new Parliament together to determine the new President of the Republic.....

under the guide of the oldest member of Parliament as the Speaker....no where does this say that an extension has been granted....I'm not even sure the Liberal bloc has the legal authority to ask for such an extension....keep a close eye on this issue.

After declaring a state of emergency .. Maliki result in his family to the outside!

Maliki is reported to have moved his family out of Iraq to London where I believe he has a home.....it was said for their safety in the time of the current terrorist crisis....

Maliki has declared a state of maximum alarm or alert and is asking the Parliament to declare a state of emergency for all of Iraq to deal with the terrorist activities that have erupted in the past 24 hours in Mosul.

Law: the budget will be changed with the formation of the new government

The State of Law coalition is stating that the the budget will be changed with the formation of the new government.....

when the session of the current Parliament ends the budget will be returned to the government and when submitted to the new Parliament there will sure to be some changes and modifications as well as price changes.....sounds interesting.....wait for it.

Integrity: the nephew of al-Maliki refuses to disclose financial information and discharged confirm embezzling millions of dollars!

The Commission on Integrity is accusing a nephew of Maliki of embezzling millions of dollars.....at the same time he refuses to disclose financial information....

Integrity Commission law No. 30 requires certain individuals to have to declare their financial interests annually, but this man refuses to do so......serious charges to be faced with no doubt.....

wonder how he will survive this......have you noticed the past couple of articles have spoken of Maliki as the "outgoing" PM....interesting.

Big Mac News today.....but can't say that much is really surprising.....except the Mosul stories...pretty sad in reality....

will it slow things down....IMO.....I doubt it.....just keep a sharp eye on Maliki during the upcoming days.  **  Randy
