Thursday Morning News Summaries
Iraq Militants, Pushing South, Aim at Capital
It sounds like many of the former regime that have managed to evade capture are attempting to rise up again and are coming out of the woodwork....not a good thing.....this tells me that Maliki is not behind this uprising as he hates the Baathists.
A surprising twist to things and again as Frank has reiterated TIMING.....of course we will keep an eye on things as the day(s) progress.....wonder where the US troops are today....maybe stationed around the perimeter of Baghdad....I'm thinking not....want to believe they would take the fight to the terrorists.....
if the Iraqi military commanders were giving orders to surrender to the terrorists, I would not want to be in their boots when Maliki comes calling.....
the President of Syria is expressing solidarity with the Iraqi government in fighting the terrorists.....it is reported that the ISIS has been growing in numbers even after it was splintered from al Qaeda this past February....
I am suspecting that if the bank reports are anywhere near the truth in the amounts of money that was "allegedly" stolen....that al Qaeda will probably reverse itself and welcome the ISIS terrorist with open arms.
World U.S. Embassy Prepares for Possible Evacuation as Militants Take Control in Iraq
I cannot fathom that the US would allow its largest embassy in the world to fall into the hands of these murderous rebels...perhaps some of the US boots on the ground have been ordered to defend the embassy and its staff....
this article says that the rebels seized control of Tikrit but a later article will say that the military has taken back control of the city....there are reports of mortar and rocket fire hitting the Baghdad airport....
US citizens are being advised to avoid any public gathering areas in fear of kidnappings and terrorist violence.....Iraqi forces are combatting the terrorists basically on two fronts at this time...in Anbar and Ninevah.
Mosul Seized: Jihadis Loot $429m from City's Central Bank to Make Isis World's Richest Terror Force
Allegedly....and I stress that word....Allegedly....the ISIS has looted upwards of 500 billion dinars from various banks in Mosul....I question how the governor of Ninevah can know this has happened,
they didn't just leave the money out on a counter for the terrorists....until there is some accounting for what might have been stolen....I see this as just a rumor....until proven otherwise.
Kurdistan's (et al): the absence of trust between the components and frustration political blocs to push the fear of declaring a state of emergency
I personally find it disgusting that MP's would fail to show up for a vote on a State of Emergency....this shows just how shallow the Iraqi government is and the lack of support they give to the people of Iraq.....blame M if you will...but IMO the Parliament is just as much to blame....
these politicians would rather stand by sucking their thumbs and watch their country be torn apart by rebels and upstarts from the former regime.....
the people should be insisting these excuses for lawmakers be expelled and prosecuted as quickly as possible.....it wasn't just the Kurds who didn't show up....they don't have the numbers to cause a lack of quorum....it takes others to hide in some cabinet corner as well.
Central launches new instructions to sell the currency auction
The CBI continues to tighten their rules around currency auctions in an attempt to identify sources of currency to help in the fight against money laundering.....this is a good thing.
Kurdish lawmaker: America proposed the establishment of a common fund for the deposit of oil imports
This is confusing at best.....they speak of "imports" of oil and I think they are referring to exports....that is the big concern between Baghdad and Erbil.....the Kurds claim they are considering a deal that would deposit oil into a common fund....
again confusing, are they talking oil or are they talking oil revenues....either way, I don't see the Kurds considering this very long as I would think they see this as yet more of a strangle-hold by Baghdad.
A parliamentary source: Chalabi's deputies asked the "law" for the removal of Maliki government
Now the political leaders of the Iraqi Council of Representatives are calling for the resignation of the government and Maliki....sure this makes perfect sense in a time of national emergency....
the head of the Iraqi National Congress, Chalabi, called upon the State of Law to provide the resignation of Maliki....things appear to be very "brittle" in Iraq at the moment....
"tense" might be another good word to use. I would be very cautious if I were any type of political entity moving around Baghdad at the moment.
Plot al-Maliki on Iraq
Will this current terrorist crisis spell the end to Maliki and his eight years of governing Iraq? Time will tell, just as time should reveal whether this threat is truly a terrorist backed initiative or is it a politically motivated ruse.....
either way it is a serious event that needs to have Iraq's undivided attention at the moment....IMO...this is not the time to be bickering over political framework, it is a time to be focused upon the Iraqi citizens and making their cities and homes safe.....
attack these terrorists, rebels, beasts whatever you want to call them....eliminate them once and for all, then reunite the country from a political standpoint.
Urgent .. State of Law coalition decides to resort to the Federal Court to grant more powers to the government
Maliki and the head of the State of Law Coalition, after failing to get a quorum to vote in Parliament today, are now turning to the Federal Court to attempt to give the government more power to deal with the terrorists.
Expert warns of exploiting the emergency declaration in favor of the survival of Maliki in power
The government's and Maliki's powers are basically due to expire in two days......what happens if he gets the State of Emergency granted to him......he is in power for another 30 days....
what can be done in that time frame....from a political standpoint I seriously doubt much will change, other than we should learn who the new government will be in that time frame....
from a military standpoint Maliki is given considerable power at his fingertips.....but honestly....I think he has believed those powers to already be in his hip pocket before now.....
watch the Federal Court today....will they rule this quick on a decision regarding Maliki's future?
If the current government is allowed to expire....what state of turmoil will things be in Iraq at that point in time.....and don't forget the US troops on the ground....where have they gotten off to.
Opinion: It’s Maliki’s Fault
Good article that offers a clear opinion of Maliki and how things currently stand for him. He is definitely in a fight on two fronts.....first the political battle that continues to rage all around him....’
then the terrorist front that is waged both to his west and north that is getting dangerously close to Baghdad....he is desperate to maintain his position and really needs to see a quick and swift response to the terrorists once and for all....not sure that will happen....’
it all hangs on how well organized these bands of rag-tag fighters are determined to be....how much real estate are they capable of hanging onto while trying to advance their cause.
The vision of Maliki must be somewhat blurred at this point due to so much happening all around him and so few people he can call friends and supporters.
Restore control over the entire city of Tikrit, and the Army Air hits nests Daash in Mosul
The Iraqi Army has found some backbone after all and is reported to have regained total control of Tikrit...meanwhile the Army Air group is pounding identified nests of terrorists in Mosul.
Directs the Secretary of Baghdad districts of the municipality to provide facilities for all investors for their projects directly Investment
In the midst of all that is going on in Iraq the city of Baghdad has time to sit down and talk about investors and what is expected of them and how they need to comply with certain instructions and regulations and legal systems...
after all they are working in their city....sounds like they have plans of things growing within the city.....not too concerned for what is going on to the north of them.
Secretary General of NATO does not see a role for NATO in Iraq
I will close with this short but important article for the morning.....NATO Secretary General does not believe that his organization has a role at this time in Iraq.....that says quite a bit IMO......
makes me wonder what is he seeing that the rest of the world is overlooking......
could this all be a political ploy by someone to either promote or oust Maliki and his government....what treachery if it is....how lowlife of whoever is attempting to pull it off.
Family I will close with this tidbit of information.....
keep searching for evidence of what is real.....for what can be claimed as fact....
ignore the smoke and all that is opinion.....thru the smoke there is meat to be cured....
and it will become more and more visible in time. ** Randy
