The Washington Post: Maliki appointed partner in corruption central bank governor, the news is not encouraging
[Bye the Sea] The author, David Ignatius is brilliant. I have heard him speak on several occasions. His intellect of the Middle East is quite amazing.
He is right about our current situation. Maliki is the most corrupt elected leader Iraq has ever had. He has possible stolen $100 Billion U.S. tax dollars from America. Maliki was a huge set back and he continues to cause Iraq much pain, even in his current role.
Ignatius is also right in that the appointed CBI chief is from the Maliki regime and thus we cannot expect this person to behave in any other fashion than one of corruption. Even as Mr. Abadi looks on.
However, I do feel, since I am sure Mr.Ignatius does not follow Iraqi politics as closely as we all do, he may be missing the quiet coalition which is being put together by Mr. Abadi.
He is building something that actually has a chance in surviving the evils of corruption. He is giving Iraq hope for a coming economic boom. A biblical boom at that.
It is possible we see an exchange rate change soon but much still has to be done. It may include removing the current CBI chair, as I am fairly certain he is not one to be trusted.
So because of this, I will give Mr. Ignatius a pass in not seeing what we see daily.
We inch closer each day.
All the best, bye the sea
[tlm724] Bye the sea, your opinion is always most welcomed. I agree and I have been waiting to see a permanent governor appointed to the CBI. Ali Alak was seated as a proxy governor. Let's keep our eye's open for an announcement from the New government.
