Maliki back from his visit to China and sends Shahristani instead of him and his office: the decision was made to use the time to form a government
Interesting twist on things within the State Law coalition today.....Maliki won't be making the trip to China after all.....Deputy PM of Energy, Shahristani, will be going in his place....
citing that Maliki's plate is too full right now with the political agenda regarding the new government and how things will pan out for him......
Maliki apparently sees the need to be in town for the election outcomes and obvious posturing that will take place after that.....or.....is his jet sitting on the tarmac warming up for a quick getaway.
Talabani's party: the presidency of the Republic of the National Union exclusively

President of Iraq, PM, and President/Speaker of the Parliament......they are wanting...insisting that this arrangement be maintained.
Apparently we have three groups vying for the President of Iraq position that Talabani now holds....the Kurds, the Sunni's with Speaker Najafi, and the National List led by Allawi....however, it is all premature depending on how the final vote count comes out.

one that will get Iraq on track for forward thinking rebuilding and reconstruction....and not be mired down in political battles and strife....they certainly talk a different game....but are they capable of delivering above what Maliki will be able to muster.
Kurdistan Rejects Report on Oil Sales to Israel, US
The Kurds are denying a report out from Reuters yesterday that indicated some of the Kurd oil in storage at Ceyhan, Turkey has been sold to the US and several tankers have been sold to Israel.....’
Baghdad is screaming that oil sold to Israel is totally unacceptable and degrades the prestige of the Iraqis.....of course the Israeli's are not saying anything about where their oil comes from....’
ome Kurds are saying that the Arab countries have ties to Israel so what is so wrong with the Kurds selling oil to them.....my sense in this is that it is just more political push and shove between Baghdad and the Kurds that is yet to be settled.
UNHCR will determine the date of announcement of the results in two days and finished the province funds 15
The Electoral Commission is reporting that 90% of the vote counting is complete, that all 15 provinces have been counted....they are now reviewing over 1,800 complaints that were received regarding the voting process of this almost 300 were of a serious nature....
they kind of hint that we may see results in a couple of days....but I'm thinking more like early next week sometime.....then the fun starts....alliance building....accusations flying....and dust everywhere.

Allawi is threatening to go to the International Courts if there is any suspicion of election forgery....and he is making noise that the forgeries started before the election process commenced....so what is he waiting for.
Al-Zubaidi: "biggest winner" inadvertently omitted from al-Maliki and change the court's decision would be a scandal to eliminate
So Maliki had it done his way in 2010....now some think that he may attempt to go back to the courts and get it changed back to the way it was before 2010....
regarding the selection process to declare the real winner of the election process....IMO...on thing that is guaranteed is that Maliki will do everything within his power to stay in power....he will not simply walk away....there will be a full-fledged fight in front of the OK Corral.

Urgent .. in a striking development Moqtada al-Sadr refuses to receive Nuri al-Maliki!!
The cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has refused to receive Maliki to discuss political developments.....seems the cleric might not have as much faith in M succeeding with a new government as M himself has.
State law: all the political blocs refuse the third mandate of the owners
It would seem that Maliki and his minions are not finding very much support across Iraq today that would assure him of a third term as PM....feelers have been going out, but they return empty-handed at this time.....this could be a leading force in his decision to not to travel to China next week.
Iraqi MP fined for offering land for votes
A MP with the State of Law coalition has allegedly been captured on video tape prior to the election attempting to swap land title deeds with farmers for assurances they would vote for Maliki's State of Law coalition....
problems lie herein that this type of activity violates several areas of the law and appears as extortion....he has been fined 50 million dinars for this crime but some feel this isn't enough punishment....
.the article even talks about the influence that Maliki swings as PM in placing cronies in high places as well as family members....
which has been witnessed in ever stronger positions over the last few years.
