Speaker of the House presides over a meeting of the committee tasked to discuss the draft law of the Federal Court
Only a little bit of news out of the Parliament thus far today about their activities.....they did conduct a meeting with the committee that had been tasked with studying the draft law of the Federal Court....
the committee presented this law for a second reading...the Speaker of Parliament conveyed that he thought a number of articles of the law might be problematic for some blocs....and stressed the need for consensus approval and that he is looking for what it will require to pass before all members of the Council.....they agreed on a postponement of the second reading and also agreed that the committee would meet again on Wednesday.
Economist: "16" economic strategy ripe for starting and must be cleansed of circles
An economic expert spoke of a 16 point economic strategy that would cleanse state departments of inefficiency.....bringing to light programs that would focus on clear visions of economic growth and strategy....there would be a focus towards eliminating corruption and put renewed focus upon industrial and agricultural sectors to help grow the GDP of those areas and reduce poverty levels where possible....while staying in tune with their 5-year plans that are in place.
Financial positions of the Kurdistan denies the Iraqi government to pay the salaries of its employees for the months of July and August
It would seem that the existing COM has denied payment of salary for Kurd employees for the months of July and August....they are as lame duck as it gets and Maliki still is at the head of the ministers.....so guess what direction and emphasis they are taking....give nothing to the Kurds...business as usual.....but rumor today has it the next Finance Minister may indeed be a Kurd....so that could create some interesting dialogue going forward.
Federal Court invalidated a law suit related to the Iraqi Council of Representatives elections
The Federal Court acted on Tuesday to cancel a decision formerly made by the Board of Maysan for the amount of 25 million IQD annually to the Club Martyr....based on the budget law....the court also overturned a suit concerning the constitutionality of Article 11 stemming from the Law on Elections of Parliament dating to 2003.....there were also other cases before the court that were postponed until 10/19/2014.
Ministers attending the Kurds to the Cabinet meeting
According to news sources.....the Kurd ministers attended the Tuesday Cabinet meeting today....since the Kurds walked out of the Cabinet meetings a couple of months ago Maliki has refused them entry back into the meetings.....makes me wonder if they actually got into the meeting today or not....a later article I think says no.
Kuwait mobilize because of "Daash"
Kuwaiti government officials acting on information they are receiving are mobilizing key areas along the border with Iraq and others to keep factions of the terrorist group DAASH out of Kuwait.....the Ministry of Interior is responsible for these actions.
Chalabi: "the law" are demanding the defense portfolio for material resources
The leader of the National Congress, Chalabi, is demanding that the State of Law coalition hand over defense portfolios and material resources....they do not own these things and keeping anything would be dealt with as corruption to the max......they are wise to be wary of all shenanigans that the State of Law and Maliki will try to pull in their last days of power.
Maliki's push to "Abdul Samad" for the post of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament
It comes out today that Maliki has paid the former governor of Basra for the position of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament....IMO....if the Speaker of Parliament allows this he goes down a number of pegs in my eyes because he is simply giving in to the desires and demands of Maliki.....this does not have to be.....as with Abadi....look for competency and integrity.
National Alliance: everyone wants to participate in the government
Until now there were very few that wanted any part of the formation of the government....now that Maliki looks to be out of the picture....everyone is coming forth to grab their piece of the action....pick us...pick me....oh what a job Abadi has to narrow down his choices.
Abadi obstacles in the way for the formation of Iraq's new government
It is said that Abadi is racing time to get his government seated.....at the same time he is facing obstacles in getting the right mixture of political entities onboard in his Council of Ministers....one of those obstacles is Maliki himself and his party attempting to put roadblocks up that in their eyes will see the failure of his successor.....don't count the snake out just yet....his head has yet to be removed....meanwhile negotiations are working in earnest to garner seats in Abadi's government.
National Alliance: reducing ministries will reduce the stakes of the political blocs
By reducing the numbers of Ministers Abadi is essentially reducing the numbers of different parties that may have an active role in the new government....feelings are going to be hurt, toes will be stepped upon.....but in the end let it be said that Abadi went for those professionals that in his mind were competent and showed great integrity in their prior work efforts for Iraq......change is never for the faint hearted.
Military: Maliki Find a lot of opponents and Abadi accept candidates blocs
Maliki's people continue to attempt to strike back at Abadi and his credibility.....but thus far their salvos have fallen short of their mark....they just sound like a bunch of crybabies that are upset because their big bully isn't the sheriff any more.
Sunni forces is to restore the "usurped rights" and the Kurds believe the time is right for radical solutions to end the "unfairness" al-Maliki
Sunnis and Kurds believe the time is ripe for negotiations for solutions that will overturn much of the unfairness that has been attributed to Maliki in the past 8 or so years....sounds like many are ready to come back to the table and work in an honest way to right the wrongs that have been made and move forward....in unity.....sounds good, but can it be done...that is what remains to be seen....keep an eye on this.....my prediction....the State of Law will make every attempt to stonewall any activity in this direction.
An economist for «Union»: Abadi in the face of economic spiky file after the events of Mosul
Big economic article by Dr. Mohammed Saleh....stating that Iraq needs to face the thorniness of the roses and put forth an economic plan that can meet the world....take a strong stance against terrorism....kicking out the lot that has settled in since June 10, 2014....they also need to deal with poverty issues that are running as high now as 30% due in large part to the displacement of so many Iraqi's because of the terrorists who have taken over areas.....he spoke on oil also....making a great deal of sense about things that Iraq should be considering as their new government moves forward.
Aajl..musdr: Abadi, will present his cabinet to parliament next Monday
Somewhere in this mornings news is an announcement that Parliament will meet again on Thursday....now Abadi is hinting they will meet again yet on Monday.....that would be nice, especially if he has some good news to present them with.....his magical mystery tour of Ministers.....then Katy bar the door....they should be off to the races.....new laws passed, old laws rejuvenated, new this and that for everyone...and maybe an IR or RV or something for all the rest of us.
Cabinet of Ministers held its absence Kurds and the weights that the meeting will be his last
Just a bit ago we saw where the Kurds were in attendance for today's COM meeting....now it is being said that they weren't there.....but Maliki was still in charge...imagine that.....so maybe he locked the door so they couldn't get in....sounds like something he would do.....but this may be his last meeting....I am sure they were only wanting to come by and wish him well in his next cell.
Reform Movement confirms the adoption of mechanisms to choose ministerial cab for the next government
I don't personally know Abadi.....but I'm willing to guess that he's no one's whipping boy......I'm sure he knows he needs to be fair in how he selects his ministers....one of these, two of those, a couple from over there....but the bottom line....no cronyism...not like his predecessor practiced....he's looking for honest hard working ministers who can demonstrate past histories of integrity, competence, experience, and technical know-how....who can be leaders at taking Iraq to the next level in all areas. He is looking for diversity....and yet everyone and their goat seem to think they need to tell him and demonstrate to him how best he fill these positions....I'll bet he will be so glad to get this process behind him.
Abadi: coming period will witness a movement active diplomatically with all countries of the world
HERE IS SOME WORTHY NEWS: Abadi wants and expects Iraq to begin a movement that will see relations on diplomatic levels improve with all countries of the world.....not just a few....not just the Gulf countries....not just their allies...but ALL countries...and it will be done diplomatically....this will be accomplished by creating a government focused upon unity efforts that will positively impact all Iraqis and will have ever widening impact upon the countries of the world.
Files held by the Kurdish delegation to participate in the negotiations to form government
Some news just never surprises anyone.....guess what three files the Kurds have in hand......Article 140.....Oil and Gas Exportation with the authority to supervise....and.....recognition as well as payment for the Peshmerga.
After the departure of al-Maliki .. Sunni insurgent factions heading for an alliance with Baghdad to pounce on Daash
DAASH has made definite inroads with some members of the Sunni groups.....we've seen these insurgent factions attempting to disrupt everything Maliki....but the Sunni leaders are saying....let us see proof that Maliki is really "GONE"....that things are improving within the government and then.....we will spank those insurgent factions....and will work strongly to rid Iraq of any remnants of DAASH.
Abadi, a coalition of law flirts to hit the National Alliance
This is funny....the State of Law has approached Abadi to see that the next government seated is slanted towards the State of Law rather than the National Alliance......really are you serious......Abadi calls this bar fly as it should be...MISERABLE.....telling Maliki and thugs he is a candidate of the National Alliance not the State of Law.....this just makes the State of Law thugs mad...claiming they will see the National Alliance coalition turned away.....however Abadi knows his footing and will not be swayed by outside threats.
Obama will preside over next month's meeting of the UN Security Council about the foreign jihadists
Interesting article.....pots and kettles comes to mind.....so we don't know just yet when this session will be held....probably depends on tee times...IMO.....speaking on jihadists....now there is a topic near and dear to somewhere....it was interesting that the UNSC voted on Friday to cut support for funding by those who support the Islamic extremists....makes one wonder who is going to see things cut.....will leave it at that.
Maliki seeks to block the formation of the government to foil the task of his successor
Maliki out....not yet....far from it....but his days appear to be numbered rather shortly.....Abadi is working hard to bring his ministers together.....but Maliki is working hard in his own sneaky unethical ways to bring Abadi down.....he "says" he's giving away the PM position to Abadi.....that is unless he can finagle it back into his own hands again.....do not trust this snake....not for an instant.
Kuwait .. withdrawing money with identity cards
Bank of Kuwait is allowing customers to use "smart cards" to pull money from ATM machines.....this is the first of its kind in the Gulf States....one has to wonder....is Iraq really that far behind them.....there are some restrictions on amounts....but that could just be related to not wanting customers to overload the machines initially.....progress.
Source: al-Shahristani, the front-runner to take over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Finance would go to the Kurds
MORE INTERESTING NEWS: Consideration of al-Shahristani for Minister of Foreign Affairs....a position that has been held by a Kurd for the last while.....and possibly a Kurd to head up the Ministry of Finance....I would think if I were a Kurd I would want and treasure that role as Finance Minister over keeping the Foreign Affairs position....just out loud thinking.
Urgent ... parliament to raise its next Thursday
Parliament to meet again on Thursday of this week....then according to Abadi's time table...they could meet yet again on Monday.
Taking a lunch break
