These are very, very interesting articles.
It would appear the SOL has just dumped Maliki and nominated two other candidates.
Strategically their stronger fight would have been to stay with Maliki to the end.
Stupid, but stronger.
The coalition also has said they are through trying to bring common sense to the SOL so they have now bolted and officially named Mahdi as their candidate.
This is shaping up to be quite a battle on Tuesday.
The SOL supporting a puppet government of Maliki's against the forces of democracy.
The Kurds, Turkmen and Sunni's will block vote with the coalition in their support of Mahdi.
This would have been much simpler if the SOL had just decided to either drop Maliki and nominate Chalabi and or Mahdi, or if the SOL had been willing to nominate Maliki and Mahdi by just adding Mahdi to their list of nominees.
So the battle will begin on Tuesday the first. I see this as a fight between good and evil only this time evil is outnumbered at least three to one.
The SOL cannot count on more that 40-50 MP's while al-Sistani has insured that the Shia will support a new government which will not be the puppet government, but rather the democratic government.
I do find it interesting that the SOL is now starting to describe what is happening as a coup and referring to it as illegitimate.
That is why it was so important for the coalition to follow the rule book and to cross those T's and dot those I's.
These guys will immediately contest the election of Mahdi when he is voted PM to the courts.
They will loose on constitutional grounds. The "owners" are in the process of having "their" country repossessed. tlar
