Postpone the vote on the president and his two deputies to tomorrow, Thursday
It would appear the Kurds can still exert some pressure on Parliament as the new Speaker has postponed the vote today for the President of the Republic until tomorrow.....so the Kurdistan Alliance can get their act together.
Kurdistan independence referendum ‘won’t take long’: Barzani
Kurd President Barzani has indicated that putting a referendum together on whether the Kurds formally seek independence would not take all that long....meanwhile the KRG Finance Minister has stated that the Kurds will now keep 100% of the oil revenues from the sale of their oil because of the lack of salary payments from Baghdad....in addition they will independently make payments to Kuwait as part of required war compensation.

US Think Tank: Kurdish Statehood Coming “sooner rather than later”
According to a US think tank opinion, the Kurds could be seeking independence in the near future.....they do not share in the Iraqi belief for unity...calling this fiction....as of now their next move towards breaking away from Iraq all hinges on how the new government is formed and what transpires from that effort.
The Kurds are our best shot against ISIS: We should stop messing them around
Very pointed article at past American failures post-war to support the right groups.....again this is happening with the Kurds...they have good defensive groups who are well trained on counter-terrorist activities...instead the US has repeatedly backed the Baghdad government in recent years since pulling all troops out of Iraq.....regardless of how the Obama administration has repeatedly ignored the Kurds they have proven themselves effective against the ISIS terrorists that have caused the Iraqi army to disappear without much of a fight at all....the Peshmerga holds strong in those areas they defend....protecting the Kurds won't really be a bad thing....but it will leave certain high level people with egg on their face....something they do not have a history of doing, no matter how wrong they might be.
House of Representatives form a committee to discuss the state budget
A temporary committee has been designated to discuss the 2014 budget....not sure what they can other than talk....if they can even manage to do that.
Iraqi Leader Maliki Loses Backing of Shiite Figure and Iran for New Term
Maliki might as well be standing in quicksand...he is losing ground faster than he can flail his arms.....Shiite religious leaders are turning their backs on him....and Iran's leaders are following suit as well.....his days appear to be numbered....it would seem that the State of Law coalition is being extremely ignorant in hanging onto Maliki this long....however some believe that Maliki is playing things out to the very end in a last ditch attempt for the third term.....just keep one eye focused on Maliki....don't lose sight of him.
BREAKING NEWS. A special parliamentary session to elect the President of the republic held today.
Well if this can be proved to be true.....it is indeed breaking news....need to wait to see if there are additional details to be found.
Maliki is using the judiciary to renew his mandate and equip the Iraqi budget
The name Maliki conjures up a whole group of names, underhanded, dirty, deceitful, conniving....and the list could go on...he appears to be at it again, grabbing large sums of "budget" money by bypassing Parliament in their inability to pass a budget for 2014.....he has believed to have pulled at least 135 billion dinar supposedly being given to committees for security purposes....is there anything this man won't try....he's tried to win support from the Federal Court system in stating that the State of Law by the number of votes received in April is the largest coalition...but the Court has ruled that the National Alliance is the biggest bloc not the State of Law....yet he doesn't give up.
Maliki faces three rival candidates for the presidency of the government
If Maliki insists on hanging on....he will face three candidates within the National Alliance for the PM position.....however Maliki continues to exert the idea that he is the only candidate because of the number of vote the State of Law received in the April election and they are the biggest coalition within the National Alliance.....there is serious coercion in the works here from several different directions.
Iraq plans to build a military airport south of the country and pay in advance for Korea to accelerate the receipt of fighter jets
The South Koreans have agreed to build a new airport in the southern part of Iraq to be used for military purposes and house fighter jets when they arrive.....they will also be installing guidance systems and other support systems around Iraq while also repairing some existing airports.
